Can too many products be bad for my skin?
The conflicting information that you find online, in magazines and from ‘experts’ (that includes doctors, nurses, and dermatologists) is a bit crazy. 🤪
Some tell you that you have to use moisturiser twice a day, some tell you not to use moisturiser at all, some tell you to cleanse/exfoliate/tone and apply eye cream before applying a collection of serums laden with ‘actives’ while others will tell you not to do anything at all.
Who do you believe? What do you do? What do you buy?
Bottom Line: If you have a skin issue – acne, pigmentation, redness, overly dry or overly oily skin, fine lines – whatever it may be – start with the correct diagnosis and ditch all unnecessary skincare.
If you don’t have any skin issues and you just want to look after yourself then you have options: generally I would recommend only using what you feel you need and are comfortable with.
If you like the ritual of using a moisturiser at night, go for it. Choose whichever one you like and can afford. If it makes your skin change in a negative way, then ditch it and try another one.
There is literally no way to predict whether or not you will like a product until you try it (in the same way you can’t predict if you like a certain flavour of ice cream until you try it!).\
If you enjoy using lots of lotions and potions and your skin doesn’t have an issue with it, then go for it. But if your skin is normal and you are happy with the way it looks, then I would strongly recommend keep doing what you are doing.
